Comments |
Strains for detection of mutations, recombination, and aneuploidy (BG1) XD99 was constructed to screen for mitotic chromosome loss events. can1-100 is an ochre-suppressible mutation for canavanine resistance. As long as this strain carries both SUP4 and SUP7, it will be canavanine-sensitive. If it loses the copy of chromosome X that carries these two ochre suppressors, it will become canavanine-resistant. At the same time the strain will produce red colonies instead of white and become Ade-, His-, Lys-, Ura- and Ilv-; ade2-1, his5-2, lys1-1, ura2-1 and ilv3-1 are also ochre-suppressible. |
